Tomorrow I'll be sitting around a table with my boys, my parents, my brother, his family, sharing a meal, laughing together, and simply enjoying each other's company.
As I've gotten older, I've realized these moments are some of God's greatest blessings.
Life moves quickly.
Children grow up.
Parents grow older.
Schedules become busy.
One day, these dinners become memories we wish we could relive.
That's why family should never be taken for granted.
The Bible teaches us to love one another, encourage one another, forgive one another, and carry one another's burdens. Family isn't just about sharing the same last name. It's about choosing to stand beside one another through every season of life.
As a divorced single mom, family has become even more precious to me.
Divorce was never the dream I had for my life. But God's faithfulness has never changed. Through every difficult season, He has surrounded me with people who have loved me, prayed for me, and reminded me that I am never alone.
Because of that, I never want to miss an opportunity to spend time with those God has placed in my life.
The Bible reminds us that our words matter.
Our promises matter.
Our commitment to our families matters.
Marriage was created by God to reflect His covenant love—a love that is faithful, sacrificial, and enduring. When husbands and wives are able to keep their vows through humility, forgiveness, and commitment, that faithfulness reflects God's design for marriage.
Whether we are married, single, widowed, or divorced, every Christian is called to live with integrity. We are called to tell the truth, to reject deception, to remain faithful in our relationships, and to love others as Christ has loved us.
Jesus never abandoned those who came to Him.
He welcomed the weary.
He cared for His mother even while He hung on the cross, entrusting her to John's care (John 19:26–27). Even in His suffering, He made sure His family would be cared for.
The Good Samaritan stopped to care for someone others ignored, showing that loving our neighbor means taking action when someone is hurting (Luke 10:25–37).
The early church shared what they had so that no one among them was left without help (Acts 2:44–47). They lived as a family united in Christ, caring for one another with generous hearts.
Paul reminds us in Scripture:
"If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever."
— 1 Timothy 5:8
Providing for our families isn't only about money.
It's about giving our time.
Being present.
Keeping our word.
Speaking truth.
Offering forgiveness.
Showing grace.
Praying together.
Being willing to help when someone is struggling.
The enemy loves division.
God calls us to unity.
The enemy encourages lies.
God calls us to truth.
The enemy encourages selfishness and division.
Christ teaches us to serve.
The enemy wants families to give up on one another.
Jesus teaches us to love one another as He has loved us.
Tomorrow, while we're gathered around the table, I'll be reminded that these ordinary moments are actually extraordinary gifts from God.
The food will be gone.
The laughter will fade into memories.
The children will continue to grow.
But the love we choose to show one another can leave an eternal impact.
So hug your family.
Call your parents.
Spend time with your children.
Encourage your siblings.
Keep your word.
Forgive quickly.
Love deeply.
Because tomorrow is never promised, but today is a gift from God.

Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the family You have given me. Help me never to take them for granted. Teach me to love as You love, forgive as You forgive, and serve with a humble heart. Strengthen our homes with truth, faithfulness, kindness, and grace. Help us keep our eyes fixed on Christ and build our families on the firm foundation of Your Word. May our homes be places where love is spoken, promises are honored, and You are glorified in all we do.
