Have you ever stopped to imagine what your perfect day would look like?
Not the kind of day filled with expensive vacations or endless luxury. I'm talking about the kind of day that leaves you lying in bed at night whispering, "Thank You, Lord."
As a Christian single mom, my perfect day isn't about having a perfect life. It's about living a life that honors Christ while enjoying the simple blessings He has already given me.
If I could write the itinerary for my perfect day, it might look something like this...
5:30 AM – Quiet Time With Jesus
Before the world wakes up, I pour a cup of coffee, open my Bible, and sit in complete silence.
No phone.
No social media.
No worries.
Just me and Jesus.
I pray over my family, my children, my future husband if God has one for me, my business, and every woman reading these words.
This is where peace begins.
6:30 AM – A Walk With God
The sun is rising.
Birds are singing.
I'm walking through a local park thanking God for another day.
Every step reminds me that He has carried me farther than I ever imagined.
7:30 AM – Breakfast With My Son
No rushing.
No arguing.
Just laughter around the kitchen table.
We pray together before eating and talk about what God might have planned for today.
These are the moments children remember.
8:30 AM – Building the Business God Gave Me
I sit down at my desk with excitement.
I write a blog.
Design a new product.
Record a YouTube video.
Answer encouraging messages from other single moms.
Not because I'm chasing money...
But because I'm building a ministry that also provides for my family.
What a blessing it would be to work from home while serving God.
Noon – Lunch and a Little Adventure
Maybe a picnic.
Maybe the zoo.
Maybe a free museum.
Maybe simply feeding ducks at the lake.
The destination doesn't matter.
Time together does.
Children rarely remember expensive things...
They remember feeling loved.
2:00 PM – Serving Someone Else
Maybe visiting my parents.
Helping a neighbor.
Writing an encouraging Facebook post.
Mailing a handwritten card.
Bringing a meal to someone struggling.
God never intended us to keep His blessings to ourselves.
4:00 PM – Family Time
Board games.
Cooking dinner together.
Laughing over silly jokes.
Maybe baking Rice Krispie treats just because.
These ordinary moments often become extraordinary memories.
6:00 PM – Evening Gratitude
Dinner around the table.
Phones put away.
Talking about our highs and lows of the day.
Ending with prayer.
Not because life was perfect...
But because God was faithful through every moment.
8:00 PM – Sunset and Reflection
Watching the sun go down.
Listening to worship music.
Reading one more chapter of God's Word.
Writing in my gratitude journal.
Thinking about all the prayers He has already answered.
9:30 PM – Peace
My home is quiet.
The dishes are done.
The laundry can wait until tomorrow.
My heart rests knowing I gave today to the Lord.
And if tomorrow never comes...
I spent today loving God, loving my family, and serving others.
That sounds like a beautiful life to me.
The Truth About the Perfect Day
The funny thing is...
My perfect day has very little to do with money.
It isn't about having the biggest house.
The newest car.
Or a flawless life.
It's about living close enough to Jesus that every ordinary day becomes extraordinary because He is in it.
As single moms, we often feel like we're waiting.
Waiting for finances to improve.
Waiting for healing.
Waiting for relationships to be restored.
Waiting for life to get easier.
But maybe our perfect day doesn't begin when everything changes.
Maybe it begins the moment we decide that Jesus is enough.
Because when Christ is at the center of our day...
Every day becomes worth living.
Lord, help me stop chasing the perfect life and start embracing the life You have given me. Let every sunrise remind me of Your mercy, every challenge strengthen my faith, and every evening end with gratitude. May my home be filled with Your peace, my work glorify You, and my children always see Christ reflected in me. Amen.
