Have you ever noticed that some dreams never go away?
Life changes. Circumstances change. Relationships change. Seasons come and go. Yet there are certain dreams that quietly remain in the background, waiting patiently for their time.
For years, I thought my dreams had been delayed by the responsibilities of life. Raising children, working, caring for family, navigating heartbreak, and simply surviving difficult seasons often left little room for pursuing my own goals.
But recently, I realized something important.
The vision I have for my life hasn't really changed.
I still dream of living simply. I still want to help others. I still want meaningful work, financial freedom, opportunities to travel, and a life built around faith, purpose, and peace.
What has changed is not the dream.
What has changed is me.
I've gained wisdom through experiences I never would have chosen. I've learned resilience through challenges I never expected. I've discovered strength in seasons when I felt weak.
Sometimes we look at our lives and think we are behind.
But what if we are not behind at all?
What if God has been preparing us?
What if every lesson, every disappointment, every closed door, and every unexpected detour has been shaping us for the very life we still hope to build?
The truth is, dreams don't always happen according to our timeline.
Sometimes they take years.
Sometimes they take decades.
Sometimes God uses the waiting season to develop our character before He delivers the promise.
As I look ahead, I'm choosing to stop focusing on what hasn't happened yet and start appreciating how far I've come.
I may not be where I want to be, but I am not where I used to be.
I am learning.
I am growing.
I am becoming stronger.
And the dream is still alive.
If you're reading this and wondering whether it's too late to start over, pursue a goal, learn something new, improve your health, launch a business, or rediscover who God created you to be, let this encourage you:
It is not too late.
Your dream may have been delayed, but delayed does not mean denied.
Keep taking the next step.
Keep learning.
Keep growing.
Keep trusting.
The dream that refuses to leave your heart may be there for a reason.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." — Jeremiah 29:11
