This past week has been one of the most meaningful and memorable times I’ve ever spent with my youngest son. Even though I began the week with zero dollars in my account and more bills than I care to count, God made a way—just like He always does.
We’ve explored waterfalls, walked nature trails, and spent time laughing and learning at a local farm. We saw animals, explored the history of Jesse James, peeked inside an old-time bank and general store, and even stumbled upon a classic carnival complete with snow cones and a funnel cake. All of this was free or generously provided by the kindness of others. And for that—I am truly thankful.
Beyond the adventures and fun, what matters most is what I’m teaching my son in the process. Through every park bench talk, every walk in the woods, and every church pew we’ve shared, I’ve been intentional in planting seeds of faith, character, and love. Watching my boy sit beside me at church, seeing him witness his mother praise God in the midst of struggle—that’s the true gift of this week.
We bonded. We laughed. We prayed. We created memories that I pray neither of us ever forget. In a world moving so fast, being able to slow down and really know my son—his thoughts, his hopes, his heart—has been priceless.
Being a single, low-income mother is not easy. But I wouldn’t trade this week for anything. My calling as a mom is to lead by example—to raise godly men who know the value of truth, kindness, respect, and faith.
As Proverbs 22:6 reminds us:
"Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it."
I may not have much financially, but I’m rich in love, in faith, and in purpose. I thank those who helped us experience these moments—whether it was a ride, a snow cone, or simply encouragement. You were God’s hands and heart in action.
I still have bills to face and struggles I can’t deny, but this week reminded me that God always provides what we truly need. And what we needed most—was time together.
With all my heart,
Kerri Anderson ❤️
