Lately, God has been teaching me something important: we were never meant to do life alone.
As a Christian single mom, caregiver, business owner, and woman rebuilding her life, I have spent a lot of time trying to figure things out on my own. Sometimes we become so focused on surviving that we forget the importance of learning from others who have walked a similar path.
This week, I signed up for a free Christian women's webinar. At first, I wasn't sure what to expect. But as I looked through the speakers and topics, I see sessions on faith, business, motherhood, healing, purpose, and even divorce recovery. Immediately, I knew there was something there for me.
One speaker specializes in divorce recovery, and I am especially looking forward to hearing her story. A few years ago, I went through DivorceCare, and it was one of the most helpful experiences during one of the hardest seasons of my life. It reminded me that healing happens when we allow God to work through others who have been where we are.
That is the beauty of Christian mentorship, coaching, Bible studies, and faith-filled communities. They are not about finding perfect people. They are about finding people who are willing to tell the truth.
The truth about their struggles.
The truth about their mistakes.
The truth about God's faithfulness through it all.
The Bible says:
"As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."
— Proverbs 27:17
I believe God often uses other women to sharpen us, encourage us, and remind us of who we are in Christ when we forget.
As I continue building my business, caring for my family, raising my son, and creating a new chapter of life, I realize I still have much to learn. There is wisdom in listening. There is growth in being teachable. There is strength in surrounding ourselves with women who point us back to Christ.
I don't plan on attending this webinar because I think I have all the answers.
I'm attending because I know I don't.
I'm attending because I want to continue growing.
I'm attending because I want to learn from women who have gone before me.
Most importantly, I'm attending because I want God to show me what He has next.
Perhaps one day my own story of faith, divorce, motherhood, caregiving, and rebuilding will encourage another woman who feels lost or alone. For now, I am grateful to be the student, listening, learning, and allowing God to continue shaping me into the woman He created me to be.
Growth doesn't happen when we know everything.
Growth happens when we remain teachable.
And sometimes, all it takes is saying "yes" to one opportunity to learn.
